Tuscan Villa

Mirroring the tones and textures of its environment, this home is part of a villa-style estate on 20 acres of land that is reminiscent of the Tuscany region of Italy. One reason why Mediterranean design fits so well in the foothills is that the oak leaves and bark mimic the color of olive trees and the land rises up into rolling hills. The epitome of Tuscan architecture is gathering building materials from the site where you are working. Here, we brought the earthy colors of the surroundings into the exterior stucco, the rock work and the clay tile roof.

Deep, covered verandas that provide cool, shaded outdoors areas are also traditionally Tuscan. Some exterior elements carry through to the interior, such as the rock walls flanking the fireplace. The dining room’s stone floors bring in the look of the courtyard terrazzo.
